"I have been young and now am old, yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken or their seed begging bread." - Psalm 37:25
There have been many times when God has come through for us, but one particularly stands out. We never owned a house of our own hence moving from place to place. We did not have sufficient finances and we did not qualify to get help from the bank. Frustration and disappointment at every turn, we exhausted every avenue and basically came to terms with the fact of not being able to own a house. Praying was simply not enough; what God wanted us to do was to entirely surrender our plans to Him. During that time of hopelessness, we did not lose faith and continued to pray and fast, casting all our burdens on Him.
A few days later, a friend living in England with multiple properties within the area we were looking at called. Well, she was looking to make a quick cash deal. The house was more than what we expected- it was large for my huge family, close to schools, shops, our work, and even just a walking distance from my parents' place. And wait for it... the price was a third of its pricing! We immediately jumped on it and purchased the home.
The experience not only brought our family closer but also us closer to Christ, it also taught us to trust Him entirely... knowing that our time is not His time. Our faith grew and we still face daily obstacles, but with now a positive attitude, reminding ourselves that a man is the one who plans, but it is God who directs.
